It's easier to learn to do it if you start repeatedly raising your cheek (as if smiling very hard, just with one side of your mouth) together with closing the eye, and then as you keep repeating it, very gradually relax the cheek muscle until you arrive at something that looks effortless, give or take. That said, not everyone can do it equally well with both eyes (e.g. I can only do it adequately well with my right eye; then again I never really trained for it), so if you can't get it right, try the other eye. I also taught myself to move my ear muscles, throat muscles and various other muscles people don't normally control consciously, just to get a better feel for my body. It can be done if you put your mind to it.
