Still kind of sad if it ends here, so depending on the interpretation he might very well have spoken the truth.
For one, I kind of wanted Rin to go through more of a character arc with her pretend play interfering with her real emotions—not to the extent of a fully-blown MPD/DID, but you get the idea. The author clearly recognized the opportunity (it was toyed with somewhere around chapters 40–45 or so, IIRC) but it seems he decided to leave it on the shallow side for whatever reason. Then again this is the Twitter version, and I've no idea how the magazine version differs from it.
(Kaguya-sama is already legendary in my book for continuing the story and tightening it up even more after the confession. Easily the best romcom since Molester Man.)
His power-level is so damned high. She didn't stand a chance against him!
I honestly thought he was going to kiss her when he was reaching towards her - but for him to instead take out her ponytails so he could talk to the real Rin? Holy fuck, my heart. This guy is a chad. 😤
I have ascended into a newfound land of wholesomeness. My soul, damaged from reading too many edgy revenge isekai, has been saved by Lord Wholesome. Bless.
