They know she won’t break from torture so they make it so she gives into pleasure. From what I remember Neimilia plants a curse on her that causes her to feel pleasure whenever Raidorl speaks to her. Kinda rapey, ik, but from as far as I’ve read he never lays a hand on her. It’s simply to break down her pride as a loyal servant of the kingdom and make her their puppet for information which was pretty satisfying imo.

Other than this incident he’s very cautious towards the kingdom and pulls some crazy shit so that the kingdom can’t backstab him, fortunately no damsel in distress either
Honestly interested to see that more cautious end of things unfold

Here's a crazy idea. Side with the empire with the stipulation that they don't touch your tiny frontier town.

or negotiate surrender with the stipulation on a certain degree of autonomy (if the empire is know to have good governance)

Even with this chapter I still can't really see the "betrayal" angle, like his brother calling him back after he's been crowned is logical, and sending a Holy Sword wielder to fight against other Holy Sword wielders is also logical, like what is MC even planning to do if doesn't want to fight the empire? Stay in the Frontier town and hope the empire doesn't invade them? By that point it'd be too late to have a fighting chance against the Empire.

I honestly feel like the "betrayal" angle is cobbled to justify making the witch MC has as a companion be into kinky stuff with kinky powers...

The time skip is a big mistake as we never see how he grew. But apperently not much. Since he isn't calm and still immature.
Honestly it should've ended with him stating to her, "Its not my problem, get lost." Or the fate of the kingdom no longer concerns him and that his brother should solve things on his own.
And once she attempted to capture and enslave him against his will, is where things esclates into unforgiveness territory.
