The author said she never wanted to finish this story. Reason? She personally likes the idea of both of them continuing on in her mind as battling it out and never coming to terms with the arranged marriage. A disturbing personal preference. Period.
Writing Manga can be hazardous to your mental health, it appears.
The author almost finished this story. Almost. In the end, she just wandered off to another story. It is the risk we take investing our time and effort into random writers. Stories are abandoned, take a really bad turn, or end up with a ridiculous conclusion that makes every equally angry.
This is kinda why I like to peek at the comments before investing two years in such a trash fire. She had some clever ideas in the beginning. But it becomes painfully obvious she ran out of steam and just kept wringing this poor tired story for another pay-cheque.
I certain cannot blame manga writers for such behaviour. Much of their time writing and illustrating these stories is seen as "laying down track before an oncoming train". The instant they realize their story has come to an obvious end, so has their job & source of income.
Sadly, one expects that after years of reading, the writer's audience would take first place over the writer themselves. Saying, "These are my characters and I'll do with them as I wish," made me drop this writer and everything else she's done. My daughter told me it was a good decision. It would appear that finishing stories is something the writer fails to do.
