If he is truly more than human, I think that is a nice twist to this formula. But as others have said, human adventures all get stronger by going into dungeons so I am unsure why they don't consider his case to just be that. Unless there is previous situations of humans living in dungeons and changing beyond human...

They don't really need a previous instance of a human having changed, they know that anything else that has remained in a dungeon for a prolonged period has changed (eg, Kuro, the drone) they can then use that knowledge alongside what they know of his strength to infer that he's probably changed/evolved into something beyond human.
