Ok. Imo it's not axed but planned, as the beginning perfectly fit with the ending.
I'll miss Chiaki, his brothers and the whole weird hentai-like superheroes theme, there was more potential than what we see (for example the neko rangers never really entered in action) but Hiramoto is Hiramoto and he didn't care about anything.

Let's wait for his next opera.

Seems way too soon for it to be ending. I don't even think they explained how heroes came about and what did they do to make salf come about. Why is mariko the leader, what was thee point of that cosplayer and other woman. It added nothing to the story. Kinda lame, though the art skills are top notch.
