The story can be pretty contradicting and undecided about what to make of it.
It has both Kaoru wanting to not do it again and hoping he can drop it entirely one day, and also Kaoru wanting to cling to it and outright stating he doesn't want to have to stop doing it as he grows older.
The author seems to be in a state of constnatly changing if he wants to go for it or not.
