Did anyone else see double with the last few pages?
Would be more helpful if Astaroth promise he will also regulate the other merchants.True, he can still sell for a fair price. If he's hoarding the food to maximize profit when people are starving, it's wrong... plus, he can still make profit... after all, it's the price the food normally would have...
If you want to know what people think, read the comments.Did anyone else see double with the last few pages?
Came to the comments just for this, thank you.The salt's riddle is usually accounted to story about Tokugawa Ieyasu (but they might also import it from the mainland).
"What is the best and worst tasting thing in this world?"
Tokugawa asked one of his wives, "What is the most delicious thing in the world?", and she answered salt, because even with any exotic ingredient, it will depend on how you season it with salt. And then Tokugawa asked, "Then what is the most terrible tasting thing in the world?" and she answered it's also salt, because no matter how good the food is, it became inedible with too much salt.
Checking the manga raw, the daughter actually only ask "what is the most delicious thing", and Kong Ming smiled, thinking how this is not what he expected. He probably understand the riddle, so he explained not just the most delicious, but also the worst food even before she followed up the question.
And yes, those who complained about "not pretty" should read Otong's reply which also gives context on why Astaroth thinks it have to be Kong Ming.
indeed, the answer for the riddle shown is "human", but the answer he gives is for a totally different riddle. my guessing is that translator couldn't translate it literally, so he chose a different riddle, but with that the whole scene lost it's meaning...The shown riddle and the answer are mismatched, I feel there was a mixup from which pages went in vs those that were supposed to go in, but thank you all the same for the translation
Thank you! I knew I heard this answer to a riddle before but it was driving me crazy cause I couldn't remember. The salt's riddle is usually accounted to story about Tokugawa Ieyasu (but they might also import it from the mainland).
