Note that when MC used the Mirror, he called up the mother, but did not/could not call the father. This implies the father is actually still alive, and still on his quest to revive his wife somewhere , but well out of reach of the MC's territory.

If he were dead, narrative convention would have the parents show up as a ghost couple from the mirror...
