For anyone saying the demon lord is stupid for saying that only 300 spartans defended against thousands of Persians soldiers, that's more the fault of the Author for not doing proper research on the battle of Thermopylae and the 2nd Greek-Persian war, or he just watched the movie 300 and pulled that from memory (though to be fair the 300 Spartans who fought there were all professional and drilled soldiers, so they were the more prepared one of the Hellenic Alliance)
And some fun facts, Leonidas and his 300 Spartans together with his 7000 allies from Thebes, Thespia, and 10 other greek cities as an advance force against 200 thousand Persians, the main Spartan army was doing their more important sacred festivals. And it was also a fight against Greek heavy infantry on rugged favorable terrain, while the Persians used light mobile infantry for open terrain (you guys can see who has the advantage here)
The Greeks only lost there because a traitor, definitely a slave told the Persians about a difficult but doable passage that went around Thermopylae, the Persians used it, and encircled the greeks, at that Leonidas decided to retreat the bulk of the advance army, while only his 300 Spartans and slaves helots would remain to slow down the Persians, and due to emotional reasons more 700 thespians and 400 loyalist of Thebes remained
