Honestly.... When dealing with enemies bent on your demise...

You. Finish. Up. And. Kill. All. Of. Them.

You never let them escape to do Unpleasant Things out of your sight.
And yes... Plot vehicle.. But this is just n00b-stupid, which our MC isn't supposed to be anymore.

It's not "n00b-stupid", but rather, skill-complacency. He just took on those three no sweat, and doesn't see the third guy as a real threat at this point; if he sees him he'll kill him, no doubts about it, but he's not going to go hunt him down while a rampage is coming his way, especially while not geared or ammo'd up for it.

It's because he let the "inconsequential" guy run off that the monster rampage is happening...

Bloke got back to his vehicle and activated the Monster Magnet™..

This not even considering the simple fact that the armored goons were pretty obviously hired firepower, and that the bloke who was not armoured to the teeth is obviously the mind behind the operation, and the cause of all the trouble.
And that's not even taking into account that our MC recognised the bastard...

That's soooo many levels of Plot-Induced Stupidity Syndrome........

Dude ran off while he was finishing off the other two and double-checking on Cheryl before he even got the chance to chase down and deal with the dude, mate. Remember that his goal here is to rescue Cheryl first and foremost (not because he likes her, but because she works for him and does her job well and was kidnapped due to working for him), so ensuring her safety right after a big firefight is not "plot-induced stupidity". Remember that they aren't that far from the downed vehicles to begin with, so it's not like he's way off in the distance; he's still easily trackable, and he could also get strings pulled when he returns to the city, if he felt the need to, too. Either way, he's confident that either his training and skills or his AI companion who can control his body better than he can and react to things unseen perfectly (like that grenade) will deal with it when the time comes.

The RPG player in me isn't liking that he leaves equipment behind
He's at that point everyone reaches near endgame where he's so op, trash loot doesn't matter even for few digits price they sell for.

They're fighting in the wasteland inhabited by monsters, they could show up anytime because of the aftermath of the battle and tear her apart if left alone. There's no point for the MC rescuing her if he'd just left her there like that.

Nah, just do a fireman's carry. Leaves one arm free, is stable, puts the weight on a better place, etc. There's a reason it is the goto way to carry ppl.
Never caried anyone like this, but can you realy fire like this?

Well no, because you can't fire rifles with a single hand.
Still better than trying to fire with someone in a princess carry or a baby carry (dunno the term for what he did), though :p

That last line is ominous, but...both of them are cornered with no way out.

Cant wait to see this guy death.

A slow, very painful death. Like blow both his legs, then let him be eaten by these monsters.

Worst death ever.

it only takes one finger to pull a trigger, and with an augmented suit doing the heavy lifting he'll be perfectly fine.

Now that there is an official publisher, does this mean no more TL services from the current one?
