ok, I get Mizuha's being a bit greedy here too.
but like

on a scale of greed to stupid

splitting off from the team to solo a bossfight is DEFINITELY on the leeroy jenkins side of stupid.
I think the kids are just overconfident from their gear or how easy for them so far with all the support they got. which also mean until now they never really in actual danger. or never knowing what live and death struggle is.

can someone tell me which chapter is this in the LN?
according to my epub it should be in chapter 97: The Hypersynthetic Snake or in Volume 3 Part 2 at around last half of the book.

Man, and Yumina still want that indecisive f*kboy to stay the same as he was ? Just hoping Akira let them taste their own S*t and grownup. :smugnako:

Brought it up before. Mizuha is trying to play the manipulation game for achievements and glory, but the fact of the matter is she's just no good at it. And it will cost lives, and whatever extra assets they have to expend just to cover for whatever stupidity happens either because of her, or outside of her control. And if this operation fails, Katsuya's reputation as a Hunter could very well tank.

...this is a fantastic manga/LN... but man, I wish that when intentionally dislikeable characters are used, they aren't ALWAYS stupid as their "negative trait." I'd love smart characters who are problem-causing due to greed, envy, evil psychopathy, or whatever. But ugh, stupid teammates AND stupid enemies.... they feel even more annoying than cockroach villains.
With friends like this who needs enemies then

Remember when this manga had a plot that advanced from time to time? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I felt compelled to link this song, because of LEXX. Morbidly funny to me, that this song has a lot more meaning than multiple chapters of this comic combined. This is the extended version; the original is only 43 seconds long.

I think I read the web novel version of this story, and several events didn't happen or changed. I don't remember this snail to snake fight sequence. Guessing this comic is based on a light novel version, and tries to make Katsuya less of a pain in the ass by having more character moments. Don't think that will work though, as I didn't think I've ever seen anyone ever say they wanted more of him.

He even gets no respect from the support group dude who was just snapping back at him
I thought he ordered them to deal with it and then got annoying by triple checking.

But he didn't even order SHIT, he was panicking and the guy told him "we've got this" and he kept panicking.

There is no respect to give..

Knowing everyone is hearing this makes it so much funnier. I wish Akira could hear it

Man, I almost pity Katsuya. Not only is he not cut out to be a leader, but everyone around him is actively subverting him.

Then, there's the sub-leaders who believe that Katsuya should stay indecisive and never take any decision that might rub his morals wrong so they just take decisions for him
I find this really interesting. It's something Akira doesn't have to deal with as a psychopathic lone wolf, but teamwork isn't always great work.

Your friends having their own agenda and wanting to keep you cute and innocent is great in theory but that's going to be troublesome when you lead military actions

Akira is never cute and innocent, so even if he kept close friends they wouldn't try this

Well, Akira has a soft spot for curvy older ladies, so that's when he's cute and "innocent". Luckily for him, they're actually mature people who aren't trying to get anything out of him.

Alpha is trying to keep him within her parameters in order to complete her mission, and she recognises that he definitely could act unpredictably when it comes to those ladies. She is also manipulative and trying to shape his behaviour, but she wants him to make decisions for himself and to care about himself first in order to ensure his survival as she grooms him to complete the mission, so her influence on him is definitely better. To be fair, Akira's personality already matches what Alpha wants because he comes from the slums where, to survive, he always acted alone and only for his own sake.

decision paralysis aren't you Katzuya?

tho honestly I don't quite understand Mizuha point, did she think they are competent enough to do the job? or she just gamble like what Alpha said here, if they success its good, if they don't its just one vehicle loss.
The former, apparently, since the entire justification she gives is "they think we can't do shit, well hold my beer!". This entire arc has people all over so eager to kill themselves (and their comrades) over clout, it would make the Reaper blush.

Really appreciate getting the full spreads, thanks TL team!

This is all Mizuha's fault, undermining Katsuya's authority, when she should have threatened this bitch to get in line or be kicked out of the operation as a liability. Drankam is infected with spoiled brats, and that is directly the fault of the new managers like Mizuha, reinforcing bad behavior. If Akira had been put into Drankam instead of picked up by Alpha, he would have been gotten killed by them for sure.
Well, the story went to great lengths to show that Akira would be killed without being carried by this exact version of Alpha (as in, the one that already had the experience from leading 10+ other kids to their deaths) :haa:

No one will ever appreciate the amount of work it takes to clean page-wide sfx besides someone else who does them. It's a thankless task. I'm sure 99.99% of readers would be fine with the sfx translations in the margins.

Katsuya clearly isn't leadership material. His AI needs to do something to take him off that. He'll either get killed or get more mentally unstable that it'll hinder her mission.

The brains of Katsuya's team (or harem) has always been Yumina. Airi seem to be physical support, while Katsuya is the shonen protagonist. They work great as a small team, and Yumina hasn't needed to shoot Katsuya's legs yet.

Comparing him to Akira, AI + Yumina is basically Alpha's role. He has the advantage of having Airi as support. But Akira has the advantage of a full feature AI that has possibly centuries more experience than Yumina. Also love kinda gets in the way for Katsuya. On the opposite side love works well for Akira, since Sherryl is way better outside support than Mizuha who is in it for her self.
