People who can't pay will pirate rips, just like with any other type of media.

Not sure if you noticed, but just with scanlation the author gets NOTHING.

MD allows scanlations even if there are officials, so unless the group decides to drop the title or remove their chapters, you can still read the scanlation for the latest ones if you can't wait.
Don't get me wrong, "Official release bad, scanlation good" wasn't at all my point.
It just rubbed me the wrong way how the post I quoted talked about things.

I believe people should have access to media, and I belive the author should be compensated for the media they produce, but with the way the industry works right now, it doesn't really work:
  • The translation from official releases are, sometimes, of worst quality than scans;
  • They take their time releasing the translated works;
  • They don't pay the author fairly.
And I am pretty sure that if we think about it some more time we'll see more problems, like how you need to pay and subscribe to a lot of different apps from different publishers if you want to follow all the manga you read. When you take these problems in consideration you start to understand how in some cases scanlations are more of a necessity, but we already know that in essence piracy is a service problem.

So again: When you dumb stuff down and tell people they should stick one up their asses and stop "crying" because they are going to possibly lose easy access (Let's face it, Mangadex is a good website, the same can't be said about 99% of the sites that post pirated rips) to a series they enjoy and that having access to that is not their "right"... Well that's just you being a condescending asshole...

To add to that, not everyone can buy stuff even if they want. I am Russian, our overlord doesn't allow us to send money beyond the border currently, so if the official publisher isn't also in Russia, I can't buy the release even if I want to. Different people have different situations, and some of those aren't fun. So yes, when there's a chance that my regular dose of escapism is going to be cut off because of a corpo, I'm 100% gonna "cry".

The translation from official releases are, sometimes, of worst quality than scans;
Yeah, there are publishers like One PissPeace Books, but most of them are fine.
And it can be said the same about scanlation, the are a lot of bad groups, worse than officials.
They take their time releasing the translated works;
Yup, this is a problem with publishers that don't simulpub.
They don't pay the author fairly.
Honestly, don't know much about that, but I doubt they pay them less than the original publisher. At least they do get something.

Yup, that's a common problem, hence I have subscriptions only to some services and pirate stuff from others that's not available (I'm not talking only about manga).
And pirating an official translation isn't much different from reading a scanlation, it's always piracy.

You're already reading a scanlation (piracy), it wouldn't be much different to just pirate the officials...

I guess this means no update for like half a year?
Why would there be no update for half a year lol, serie been licensed for around a year at this point and the fantranslation is still going, this showing up here won't change anything, unless the group didn't know this been licensed for this long
