I'm less focused on what the haters may think as I am on having to design and develop features frankly only because annoyingly many overly curious people would rather write questions than read answers.

Every single person who posts in the suggestions thread wanting "CAN WE SEARCH FOR THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN FULLY SCANED? (Or the equally common I ONLY WANA READ THINGS THAT HAVE 2000 CHAPTERS!), HUR DUR, WHATS THIS PLANNED AND REJECTED THING? IM NOT GUNNA LOOK AT THAT! (Or even the literall next post with the same exact question)"

Is an example of people who would rather ask questions

Do it, Teaseday. Slap the Rejected tag on the thread. Put an end to this madness once and for all.

Tbh it was a decent suggestion, but I guess it's not a necessary/useful enough addition.

I'm not inherently against something like this, I just don't know what form it should take. Chances are this'll just be de facto rejected due to inaction though.

to begin with, why don't put these clerical events on the group's page. I mean, it's not the manga's fault for not being available here, and other groups are free to put their own works for every manga.

> Because it's red, it stands out more.

Doesn't matter how much it stands out people won't read it.

Check this thread. The error clearly says Contact staff on discord for more information. There's no other info but this warning. It's literally impossible to miss. But people still go to the forum and make topics "WHAT SHOULD I DO???"

Well, you can say "one moron doesn't count", but the problem is... similar topic pops out very often.

@BzzBzz Well, one moron is better than 600... and the problem I've been citing is MANY MANY people doing it. It 100% worked for a fraction of users, maybe not for 1 person, but it did for that fraction.
The number of people following that manga is over 28,000.
That's a success rate of over 99.99%.
In any industry, people would call that a success.
No solution is going to completely (100%) solve things. And I'm not suggesting one that will. I just want to do something about it.
the problem is... similar topic pops out very often.
And you'd rather have millions of threads that say the exact same thing? Without that Warning there'd be FAR FAR more. Also, maybe a link should be added to that notice. Some people don't know what discord is.

@Teasday
To begin with, groups and uploaders are free to delete their chapters on their own whenever and for whatever reason they feel like, so this report thing would just make things more convoluted than necessary. Plenty of people delete their chapters for many reasons besides wanting to quit MD (and then possibly immediately reupload them). Coming up with a list of possible reasons would be both long and uncomprehensive. Not to mention I just don't like the idea of having a massive dump of dummy chapters all just saying they're deleted, and I seriously doubt the vast majority of the userbase would appreciate it either.
Your thoughts on a prompt that just pops up whenever a group removes >10 chapters within the span of a day (which is just a drop down list of reasons and a submit button) that isn't grandfathered in and just is for chapters going forward? It doesn't have to be 10 chapters, it could be 20 chapters or 50 chapters, and the pop up creates a single dummy chapter that doesn't ping the Follows list?

Prompt for what? We in the staff are usually well aware of what's happening in cases like this.

@JustNatsuki Again, when that happens the staff is usually aware of it and the reasons behind it regardless. Not to mention I can confidently say there are in fact also legitimate cases where the uploader wouldn't want to publicly answer the prompt honestly, so if it's for public-facing purposes, there's really no guarantee that the reason given is accurate. People who go on a nuking spree aren't always in a position to answer these kinds of prompts honestly, whether it's because of spite or legit circumstance.

What kind of prompts do you think would be there, anyway? "MD staff sucks, so I'm leaving?" "MD userbase sucks, so I'm leaving?" "I'm being threatened with legal action?" "I'm doing this as a power play?" If we added in "I just don't want my chapters on the site anymore," literally everyone would pick it.

i'm mildly curious, why does it matter why they were removed? In most cases I just figure the uploader was unhappy here, internal group strife or possibly legal actions threatened. In any case the issues are gone and I do without or look else where for the issues. I can maybe see dmca activity on the md side since that could indicate future problems and let other groups know that translations won't be allowed.

edit because I apparently can't speel.

I would argue that users KNOWING that would be much better than users not knowing that.

Also, you don't know that unless we implement this as a feature. You're just superimposing what you expect will happen, which is all speculation. And speculation is usually baseless.

@schlo
Because 500 people are asking about it, and it's annoying. Did you even read the post?

@JustNatsuki yep read the post and am still curious. I see the question every once in awhile myself, sometimes reply and move on, other times ignore it. There are tons of questions that get asked repeatedly or comments that really don't contribute to manga discussion, I just ignore them and move on. Out of 1,869,784 users, 500 doesn't seem like to many. If you find this annoying I would suggest reevaluating what you let get to you or maybe pass up on the comments section.

My speculation is based on being part of actually running this website for over two years and as such being quite aware of what's been happening with all the various groups who have wanted their stuff removed.

If all this suggestion is supposed to do is sate the curiosity of some drama-seeking randos (although to be honest this seems almost more likely to just raise the curiosity of people who wouldn't have even noticed otherwise), then there's really no real point to catering to them. It's not necessarily their business in the first place. And since we're specifically talking about the kind of people who would sooner ask questions than find the answers themselves, I'm not sure trying to pre-empt that by posting answers elsewhere would even help. If they're more interested in finding out where to read the deleted chapters, they can always just use mangaupdates and google.
