Asked this in the other version too.
They call Susanoo a god slayer. But are there many gods who got killed in Japanese myth?
It feels like they just do sumo and settle their differences without having to kill.
Only gods I can immediately remember to have confirmed died was Izanami, and that was from birthing Kagutsuchi the god of fire, so no killing involved and the following. Susanoo's most famous story has him kill Yamata-no-Orochi the eight headed serpent, which if you want to count as a god or not will define whether Susanoo counts as a god slayer. The other god that susanoo potentially killed (depending on your source) is a god of food who made food by sneezing it out and less cleanly methods and it disgusted Susanoo enough that he killed her. However that last story is also sometimes told as Tsukuyomi and Ukemochi instead of Susanoo and Ogetsuhime.
My assumption is that they're leaning on the Yamata-no-Orochi killing, but yeah honestly there isn't a ton of god on god murder going on in shinto pantheon even in the syncretic version that includes lot of esoteric buddhism as part of it. But honestly killing Yamata-no-Orochi is kind of like saying Thor is god killer for having killed Jormungandr. So expect some amount of embellishment from this particular arc.
Beyond that. I just hope they give Simo a proper showing and don't make him job vs someone just to get gods an easy win.
