would be good if the author didn‘t shoot themselves in the foot with that charm bullshit
My point exactly. Since the rest is peak, and this idiocy doesn't pop up every chapter it makes this manhua slightly above average imo.

Edit :
After having caugh up, it seems the story is progressing much faster than the drama (almost nothing at all honestly) so charm and women being oppressed just because they are women are minor downsides that don't often pop up.
So it's actually quite good for now. :)

I consider the cancellation of this to be a personal affront by God. Why do all Chinese titles that are actually interesting have to disappear?
What's mainstream is bad but it makes money, the rest doesn't and dies more often than not. That's a general thing in the industry.
I guess it's the same in china.
I don't know if most mainstream comics are bad though, since I don't have acces to them, anyway if a comic doesn't make enough numbers that's usually the reason for it to get cancelled.

I'll reread and edit this comment to express how good this series was to read for me, since it is hard to come back from such a long pause between chapters.

Edit :
The rivalry between the two main characters is a good point, because they both have their own experiences and can learn from each other and improve one after the other.
If not for the charm bs, their relationship would have been very cool to have, and it wouldn't become a problem to have a character constantly surpassing mc everytime.

The problem is that every main character has an insufferable persona.
One is a megalomaniac, the other is a psychopath who doesn't have any feeling for anyone except for the one who's mind-controlling him. His family also isn't very friendly, the only "nice" characters are his coworkers who also have their own motives as to why they do what they do. There's no real bonding on that side.
That's the same for the girl, since she also doesn't care for her "proteges" but just likes to surround herself with weaker and useful people in order to fuel her superiority complex.

The only characters that are nice to follow are the secondary ones, and when the story doesn't expand on them, the atmosphere is always kinda gloomy...

The only remaining thing worth following is the world building and the pretty fights which for sure tend to be exciting, but that's not enough to make this a very good manhua honestly, however well written it is.

The good thing is that the two main characters are not always together.
When they are, manhua can range from 4/10 to 7/10, when they aren't, 6/10 to 10/10, and 10/10 are only very good single chapters, otherwise 9/10 max.

Overall I'd say this deserves an 8/10, the worldbuilding and art carrying immensely. The art can't get a 10/10 though, 9/10 max.

Finally came back to this one. It is a real shame that it is over, but I truly enjoyed reading it. The art was stunning and it is a shame the author felt the series was basically un-fixable. As best as I can say, it felt like the story got... unmoored or loose until the very end.

Honestly, though, I would have been willing to read so many more chapters of infiltrating and exploring various mystic gardens as part of the security group. That alone could have been a solid series, I think, so it is a shame we only got as much as we did.

It was touching to read the author's thoughts in those last few chapters, and I wish them all the best in their future works. I'll still be coming back to this one for quite a while, I think.
