Agreed; I know it wouldn’t add anything to the plot or the rivalry of Kenshin and Aoba but GOD I hope we get a backstory on the Champ. I wanna understand him even more after this fight
Honestly, I feel like it might add some to Kenshin if only to learn more about the person whom Kenshin himself sees as his rival.
Makes me wonder if he’ll even accept the fight now but then again at the same time. I genuinely can’t wait to see how he further copes with and responds to the situation. Cuz the OG plan was never to become a world champion. It was to choke the life outta Kenshin
If this was past Aoba? Absolutely not, he'd turn the fight down because in his mind it would do nothing for his goal. Current Aoba loves the sport though on top of chasing Kenshin. So I can imagine him accepting it if it was offered.
If the author goes through with it and doesn’t do an open ending. I want him to do it like THAT! Watching them fight for a wolrd title would be the perfect when to end the series
That would be nice! I get the impulse to do open-ended stuff but I would greatly prefer a proper ending!

This is just a very limited guess but here is my crack head theory

The author is very aware that his main target audience will be manga casuals who have very differing levels of knowledge about combat sports and sports in general. So to not confuse or overwhelm his core audience he consistently makes sure to focus-on/highlight/exaggerate more fundamental and easier to understand concepts.

Ones that’ll usually be easier for the average manga fan dipping their toes into sports or martial arts in general. Cuz focusing on appealing to MAINLY or ONLY experienced practitioners may feel like a risk. Again, this is just the guess of a black American with limited knowledge on how Japanese authors try to net the most fans
Yeah that's probably the case, I just thought it was weird that it's happening on the 186th chapter.

It's not that he's doing it at all it's just crazy how perfect his form is.
I guess, but I think it's probably because the author know most of the reader aren't very knowledgeable, he probably don't want to get too deep into it and ostracized a big majority of the readers demographic.
