It sure looks like the mangaka was parodying another manga with how the Dad's face was in the last panel. But I couldn't figured out which manga...

Good luck sensei!
Also damn the wife recieves an "allowance"? They don't have a shared account? Is that how it works for single income families?
In the context of japanese household, It's actually pretty unusual, since the wife is the one usually in charge of household finance, and by that regard also the one giving allowance to their husband (Okuzai).

Common japanese household, the husband usually give their most if not entire earning to the wife and let her manage and budget their spending.

And in some toxic household like one my family friend once had, she also give allowance for her husband to "play" around, since according to large number of japanese population, if there monetary transaction, it's not consider cheating (which hit my family friend pretty hard since she's not a native japanese and grew up in different culture), but if it not a service with monetary gain in any kind, they will whole ass sue the cheating party to the last drop of alimony, regardless of if it a wife or husband.

But tangent aside, legally, japanese citizen can't have shared account, so husband would commonly give their paycheck to their wife account with his as the main legal owner of said fund as some bank do offer such arrangement, it hella roundabout the first time i were told lmao.

So that's maybe why he said he give them salary/allowance, since regardless of who manage the finance, the money is legally his

So that's the meaning in the Shin Chan comics where Misae the wife goes hunting around the house looking for the husband's secret stash that he his to use himself

also the length the author exhaustively goes to make a not-parody not-legal version of real world stuff to put into his comic is hilarious

It could be part of the flavor of the flashback. Sengoku Period, life was short, most diseases were fatal. The people couldn't be squeamish about big age differences. You can see it even in US history. Teenage pioneer women marrying older men just because that's all there was around.
That's actually a common misconception; in the majority of the US frontier, young single men were much more common than single women. But throwing off the average was that many of the pioneers in question with huge age gap marriages were mormon polygamists, where a relatively small number of high-ranking men specifically snatched up all the young women and then sent the single young men off as missionaries to convert more. (As an example, see the founder of mormonism, Joseph Smith: when he married his first wife, he was 21 and she was 22. But as he got more into illegal polygamy the age gap between himself and his new wives grew, maxing out at his marriage to a 14-year-old girl when he was 37.)

There was a brief spike in the phenomenon among the general population after the civil war, i.e. an actual mass die-off of young men, but that was short-lived and had nothing to do with the pioneer period, which was basically over at that point. Teenage marriages were common to be sure, but the overwhelming majority were teenagers marrying other teenagers. And that's kinda the only way it could be long-term, if you think about it: if one generation has a shortage of marriagable young men, then in 20 years it'll have a shortage of older men, and the age-gap marriage trend couldn't continue.

...and now that I'm thinking about it a bit harder, "mass die-off of men" is kinda exactly what happened in the village? I can't remember exactly which chapter said it outright, but wasn't it said that women and children were mostly excluded from Dara's massacre, only people who participated or collaborated were killed?
