Nice chapter. Surprisingly heavy on the supernatural side but also with a happy ending.

Akou and Unjo... Yeah let's create a new bit of folklore directly connected to Hinata and Kaoru this will not have consequences and will in fact be completely fine.
Which I'm sure it actually will. This is officially enshrining them as messengers to Yamatagi Madara and i'm sure if it comes to that they'll be happy to keep bothering her for centuries to come.

Also Dara: That girl became so disappointed about her dad cancelling out on their plans, that her bitterness invited an oni in. I must help them to make up somehow. Oh and by the way I also purged the evil Oni part out of your daughter's spirit. No, don't thank me, it was the least I could do.

If you set aside the branch family aspect of it, it almost feels like it could have been slotted in far earlier as a kind of "monster of the week" entry, instead of way down the line here in volume 7.All those branch families are making it a bit hard to follow.

HAHAHAHA, OKAY... apparently I underestimated Dara severely, shame on me .
You know... this is the second time I've seen Onis being described as people who "indulged" in cannibalism and turned into monster, I always thought they were... "demons" of sorts, but... now that I think about it, I am wrong.
They are like wendigos, but I do think there are other "types" too.
She was a good mother... unfortunately, her deadbeat husband was a piece of trash of that level too.
Hmmm... so Kaoru and Hinata's "God's familiars" form already have names... there is a chance those forms become their own beings, but considering other factors... those may be what Kaoru and Hinata may become after they die.
Their connection to Dara deepens every day, by the time of their death, chances are her energy will permeate their souls, and... well... they love her very much, they wouldn't mind turning into her familiars, if even just to keep her company.

Just a small thing, but I absolutely LOVE how the ropes and cords are drawn in this series. You can practically feel the tension and force whenever someone/thing is bound or wrapped.
