What happened:
One day Duke suddenly lost his memories of Alicia and treat her as a stranger (ONLY memories of Alicia were gone)
Even Liz's group were surprised and affirm to Duke that yes he and Alicia aren't complete strangers.

Then suddenly Alicia was order to be taken to the palace, and all the rumors are about how she totally did it.
Even the investigator who came to take testimony from Liz didn't take her trying to defend Alicia at face value and even talk about how the culprit's CLEARLY Alicia.

This makes Liz recalled the comments Alicia made in ch 15 about her power and Liz noticed that this might be things developing in 'convenient' direction for her.

I'm not a fan of either the "Black Devil" (as it's derived in opposition to the "White Angel") or the "Black Angel" (probably created in opposition to "Black Devil" but with the acknowledgement that "black" suits Alicia.
