If they had told him what he wanted to know, they might have been shown mercy in return for the information (or at least suffered less before death), now they will have a far less merciful end.

@mase_aga because fertilizer chapter was a comedic one, and the rainbow was used for comedic effect. This chapter is more serious, so no point in adding a comedic effect to the serious scene.

this is one of the things where almost every time cn beats jp, the mc decisiveness.

@DeathDonut don't think he can go into nuclear power, he is going with balloons instead of planes, which makes me think he doesn't have the knowledge of advance techniques required to do something like a nuke (without dying in the try)

I suppose thats true, this wasn't just an invasion. they also commited crimes (kidnapping civilians with intent to murder them). so they may be treated as attempted mass murderers instead of prisoners of war. still, torture is not an effective means of getting information, and they weren't the ones at the top. your better bet would be to negotiate for it. like the police of fbi or every intelligenc eagency in the world not run by two bit dictators does.

"don't think he can go into nuclear power"

He can. The dude is an engineer and apparently is a fairly good one. He should be able to build at least a fission bomb. Given that witches can refine metals and he has a healer nearby, if he gets uranium, he can absolutely build a nuke.

"maybe the raws will get there in roughly ~4 years?"
Is the original work worth reading? I rarely go into LN, and I don't think I ever read a chinese one.

@DeathDonut Very much worth reading. It's writing is at a professional level and the amount of details it goes into is astounding. Of all isekais I have read, none has top this one. Highly recommend you start from the beginning since the story features a lot of concurrent plots with its many side characters, each of them very well written and develops over time. If you enjoyed what you are getting now with the manhwa then go read the ln.

@Balancegrim: That might be the case normally, but with Nightingale to observe and her truth sensing powers, they have an objective measure to know if what is being said is true or said to stop the pain. Besides, with Nana present, they can beat them to an inch of their lives, heal them, and then beat them again. Destroy the hope of the escape of death.

@isoycrazy yes, but still two problems.
1. none of that makes them want to tell you anything (and that can be a large factor in determining when they break, and if they think that they will be saved in time). they can concievably resist for some days, at least if not longer than simply negotiating with them.
2. they might not remember enough details to be of use. for here they were only asking about overarching strategy. so not as big an issue, but torture and mental/physical fatigue does not lend well to memory retrieval.

and that's setting aside any moral quandry. these guys were officers but they weren't the ones in charge (or at least it's questionable how much they may or may not have objected to the plan). it might be reasonable to cut them some slack here. and making the child witch heal them only to see them tortured again is not ideal either (from a guardian/parenting standpoint).

I wasn't arguing that it couldn't be done. I was trying to say that for a variety of reasons it wasn't the best strategy

BRUH this is war and you're war criminals not captives. You don't get to bribe and demand for the enemy to treat you better. You'll get your limbs separated to your body and then your brains spilt out if they get what they want with you. The first guy said his name was Sznak? Or something? Throw him in the river, he's fish sznacc now. Sksksksksksk

But damn, roland be lookin like a dictator there ngl. Well, he's the most friendliest leader about there and also the most cruel dictator if you're his enemy. He's literally like two sides of the same coin. That's bad ass
