No, for once, that ain't it: This guy clearly says to himself on page 15 that "Hoshikawa, although it's pretty fucking hard to believe, likes me romantically." So he's rejecting the girl he likes, who likes him, who has the courage he lacks and shows it, because he won't be able to live with her and be in a romantic relationship without... raping her? Or going further than he wants to, because he's a precious flower saving himself for mawwiage or something? I'm not even sure he knows. He would be moving out in three days anyway and has no problem doing some urban camping evidently, so...

Basically I'm having a hard time coming up with a read on this that isn't "Shut up, stupid woman going all slutty for me! Gross! I'll let you know when your love is actually valid with the power of my paternalism!"

My brain has concocted the following lies to protect itself from the dumb, and I will share them with you out of sympathy:

• MC knows in his heart that Hoshikawa is not ready for his secretly they/them bussy
