The other option (that I saw used elsewhere recently as well) is to replace the 3rd-person pronouns with the 2nd-person pronoun, 'you'. It still fits the context, and means that the same thought/speech bubble can be used by both individuals, with the text being identically word-for-word.

Comes down to preference at that point, but, yeah.
