Idk I feel like he only gets portrayed as somewhat sympathetic to make Karin look more evil. Aoi has never considered forgiving him and it is made clear he's responsible for his own choices.

Kippei has been reduced to more an object, a tool for revenge over the course of the series. For Karin to get one up over Ito, and then reversed back. Glad to see at least she kept a GPS, but the flashback arc should definitely take enough time to get found.

I did find it kinda suspect that the cowardly Kippei cheated so easily. Even when (beautified) Aoi was seducing him, he only gave in after he realized Karen was also cheating. So I'm guessing Karen also did something like that to suppress his guilt and make him think "I can cheat cause Aoi is a bad wife".
