It happened in the middle of nowhere, he was the only outside witness, no proof of the event, AND the rape didn't actually happen in the end. Plus not to put too much emphasis on it, but captain rapey probably has a higher social standing than Abel. Add in the typical Japanese attitude regarding not making a fuss and the end result is necessarily what we saw.
What did you expect? That he'd straight up murder the guy to prevent any future rape happening? This obviously isn't that sort of manga.

@SotiCoto they didn't even TRY to report it, the whole event was used as a plot device to paint the mc as a "nice guy", the classic trope of girl saved by guy and therefore she now wants his member in her ass because he showed basic human decency and not because they have any "chemistry". Realistically the story should have developed further, how many other victims have suffered the same fate, how many other will in the future, is the whole dragon rider club a cover for a rape club? none of this gets addressed because the purpose of the scenario was to give mc an easy "hero moment".
just calling out lazy writing that casually throws rape around to make someone look good, this is a trope that is in so many isekais, just saying that it's pretty pathetic that this is the best plot the author could come up with. Dont have a problem with rape in stories itself just the fact that the same shit keeps getting rehashed over and over again with zero original spin. take goblin slayer for example, rapist goblins were kinda new and served purpose to the plot to show how fucked up goblins can be; these days everyone does rapist goblins/monsters in general but now it feels more like a rape fetish self insert fantasy where rape happens for the sake of someones nut.

And there was no need to paint him as a "nice guy". She ALREADY wanted to ride his meat-stick. This was just an event to give the impression that she had tried for other clubs, and to demonstrate that the other clubs were found lacking so as to shoehorn her into his little ancient research club with the pseudo-kuudere.
Also you call it basic human decency, but be real here... most people wouldn't step in if they were alone, or at most would only step halfway in. There is no "basic human decency" because basic humans aren't decent. Regardless though, there was no tension nor drama because the guy was OP from the start and there was absolutely no danger to him to step in and engage in PG-13 level violence.

Do you think Goblin Slayer invented rape-goblins or something? Hate to break it to you, but this sort of stuff stems back at least as far as Berserk's Fantasia arc if you're only counting mainstream fiction... As far as hentai goes, it is such an ancient trope that it is stranger for goblins (and orcs, obviously) not to immediately start raping anything remotely humanoid with female parts. It hasn't been new for decades... and frankly Goblin Slayer is still a recent fad.

@weebycunt your reading a powerwank harem fantasy why are you expecting any sort of believable chemistry lol. Harem manga and believable chemistry don't even live in the same hemisphere.
@MyersMan69 well my point was that this is the ONLY kind of fantasy that exists. out of the 100 fantasy mangas that I reluctantly follow maybe 3 of them i actually enjoy. Im a huge fantasy/isekai addict and my standards have fallen quite low these days so i tolerate the harem and the ecchi cancer degeneracy but for fuck sake can these mangas at least be degenerate in new and original ways. It's always the same copy paste reskins, same stories beat for beat, identical characters and tropes, plagiarised scenarios stitched together one after the other and that's the whole plot.
