Croutons (if that's what the jp means) are small bits of hard bread, usually toasted/roasted you can add to salads or soups. They primarily add some nice crunch and can be seasoned or unseasoned. Though I'd imagine if you put some in soup, you'd have to eat it quickly otherwise you'll have soggy bread in your soup and no added crunch.

So those were croutons after all. When I first saw this page raw, I doubted for a moment whether she actually got a legit salad or somehow put some candy/sugar cubes in.
I was going to give you shit for not knowing what croutons were before I realized a lot of countries outside Europe and the US probably wouldn't know that. Can't remember the last time I even ate them.
