@Reiito his wifey wants more children, but it's not like she can make them all.
Their problem is that they have to re-create branch families with their royal magic in it so that in the future their children will be able to marry their far-cousins (4th generation later and so).
Currently they have close to none people like this, it means their royal magic might cease to exist or worse - get leaked abroad.
So the MC has to take in concubines so that the branch families can be established. Families that don't have direct inheritance to throne but are related close enough to call them safe for marriage to protect their magic.
The Queen wants him to have more concubines, although as a wife she probably likes it more the way it is right now.
Also in case of a war they might need more magicians/soldiers. After all the previous branch families perished in war so the children in the branch families will basically serve to breed royals and/or to fight on frontlines. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tl;dr: if he has no concubines, their magic will die or get leaked or the country gets destroyed. The sooner they fix this the better.
