Not necessarily. Some myths depict sirens as man-hunting bird monsters with the heads of women, while others depict them as beautiful half-fish half-woman monsters not too different from mermaids.
Either way, the author has many other famous mythological monsters that appear later on in the story, many of whom he gives his own unique creative spins.
Mythological references are rarely ever played straight in fiction, and they're rarely 100% accurate to the original source anyway.
For one, there is no info on the original version of succubi stating that they "choose a male partner out of the many candidates they have", nor do they necessarily marry men in the first place. Many depictions in media have them act as straight-forward murderers that kill the men they seduce in their dreams, or drain their life essence after tricking them (much like the mermaids do here).
