The pun should be preserved. Why continue a mistake? Why on Earth would you make it harder on yourselves and even edit the panel?

Ultimately we chose it for consistency and because the pun doesn't work well in English. It wasn't a decision we made lightly and it isn't one we're entirely happy with, but it's what we went with in the end. If it had been made clear earlier on or if the authors had made this clear to any of the official translators as a matter of importance for their series, we would've changed it earlier. Instead we had this, and we weren't gonna change her name to "Ring" back then.

My vote was for changing her name to the far more accurate リン but that was shot down.

If they saw the volume 7 extras awhile back where Atilla's men investigated Rin's village, the elder straight up says that they named her after the "ring" that hung around her neck. So yeah, how the fuck would you get "Lynn" from "Ring", instead of "Rin"? Plus, there is both a Scandinavian and Celtic version of the name Rin, so it's not as if it's an anachronistic or inappropriate name from a time period where the iron age German peoples weren't so far removed from their northern cousins.
