Yeah, I find the dynamic between Ruri and her mom pretty well written.
I just sort of feel bad for Ruri's dad though. I want to hear more of his side of things, and to see her get closer to him. I'm also curious as to why Ruri's parents broke up with each other on the first place.

In the one-shot they didn't, or at least dad didn't think so because to him the last time he saw Ruri was basically last week to him. It's a Frieren timescale sort of problem. However, in the serialization it does seem that at least from mom's PoV they did break up good. It's already hinted last chapter and before that they used to have fights because dad can be inconsiderate and a bit too laid back about human society, and might have a temper.

I sympathize with Ruri at the very end there. 'Ya feel fine one day and the next everything hurts. XD

I wonder about the rides for everyone though. I can't remember if her dad's an Eastern or Western dragon.
If he's a Ryuu, that'll make things easy. If he's a Western, that means wings....

But in the image of dad mom had last chapter, he didn't have wings. My guess is that Shindo just doesn't want to start adding organs to Ruri like he did in the oneshot (so no additional horns, probably).

I love how normal she is (apart from the obvious). Most other characters too, or that they're at least different/weird in a fairly belivable way.

No, I know. I read the oneshot ages ago. What I mean is that this rule is no longer followed in Ch. 9 because dad is flying in the clouds wingless now. It seems that Shindo is turning him into a more standard eastern dragon and cutting down on Ruri's additional organs. The oneshot ended with Ruri gaining an additional pair of horns resembling dad's forward-facing crossed horns. That doesn't seem to be on the table anymore.

I personally think wings could still be a possibility. Besides, from a writer's perspective, that plot point is hard to pass up. Wings suddenly appearing like she accidentally pulled a parachute cord? That's right up there with her spewing fire while sneezing. XD|

But I won't pin my hopes on it happening - it just seems plausible at this point.
