I’m willing to partially agree, but I obviously wouldn’t call it an open situation when others started abusing her fiery ability for free marshmallows and other crap. It may seem that everyone is open and friendly with her, but she clearly begins to suffer from excessive superficial interest, which many children probably experienced with “unusual” ethnicity or identity at school. The dialogue is becoming less and less...interesting?
Nobody talks like this, we had a tiny bit of drama and now everyone is cartoonishly open and honest
Theres gotta be a sizable amount of people in the school that view her as a monster freak people get ostracised for so so much less
I was about to say if she has a problem being called “dragon girl” then at least she still looks Japanese apart from that. This would be a very different kind of story if she was actually black…At first I wanted to joke that Ruri is clearly at the stage “The only black student in a white school in a rich area”, but this sharply accepted an uncomfortable context when classmates decided to turn her into their personal grill ...
I don’t think that black guys would have no problems if they lived in a white society, where everyone called them “black guy” or “blackie” in particularly neglected situations.I was about to say if she has a problem being called “dragon girl” then at least she still looks Japanese apart from that. This would be a very different kind of story if she was actually black…
Obviously I have no idea what its like in japanese schools, but from personal experience not really. Remember they only know her as the girl with horns that did something to the weather over the weekend, and people call her a dragon whatever that is supposed to mean. It's kind of hard to be racist against a race you didn't even think could exist a couple months ago. Being a Different in school is just experiencing a lot of microaggressions and people expecting you to be an expert in that Difference. I was one of the few jews in school and meeting people outside of my class was a lot like this chapter. The dialogue is becoming less and less...interesting?

She's probably not happy about it, she just doesn't know how to say "no", so she's going along with things while trying to make as few waves as she can.I don't know how i feel about all the kids using her, but as long as she's happy it's fine i guess.
THIS.no one seems to mind the stinky dragon breath in their food
