I don't think the author can handle it well in the future story. NIKAIDO was rejected by the MC in Ch 22 and she also knew MC was dating HITOTSUBA. NIKAZDO also sees MC as a friend at the end of Ch 22. I don't know why the author would allow her to step in when a couple is in a peak scenario. I know wasting a good side character  is nonsense (especially she is another perfect girlfriend material.) but putting her in this situation and showing this reaction are also nonsense to me.

Regardless if the author did intentionally made the numbers joke, Nikaido (I prefer her over Hitotsuba, all day, by the way) enough is already cruel. Adding another girl is just straight up torture.
