Rebuilding a well maintenanced house (by the look of it) is kinda a dumb idea imo. Well if they wanna build something like a boarding house then that make sense.

Why demolish a perfectly good house?

Bc it's Japan.
Land is more valuable than the houses built on in in Japan. Houses are a deappreciating asset. So ppl prefer new houses. and IIRC houses bought might need to be renovated to meet certain regulations. Esp if it's an old house.
Tho it is weird how fast they are demoing it
