part of the setup is that the story (in that one it's the lore of the game MC was playing) was actually made by people getting vision dream of the same world;
but since it's a vision dream they only made the story based on what they could see instead of 'the truth'

in fact by the end of that story MC's own action had a ripple effect back to Earth where the game's director adjusted an event boss to be based on MC instead of the original plan
(and then we get to see the 'real' event happening, much to the suffering of the POV char)

This Author (the in-story novel and tower author) is one shitty being... They probably put her and the tower to pull in reader from the previous series.

Based on the fact that the original is different from what is happening and the error that happen before she got pulled to the new story, the Author probably originally include her in because people like her character. But after the previous series ends and seeing the reception, they probably tried to ride the popularity by retconning the ending and pull her in the story along with the tower by making this story as a continueation and NOT as a separate one with similar character. Making the system glitched and canceling the original reward since technically the story didn't end yet.
