This really gave a set up to look forward to. That is if it doesn’t end up being a typical fantasy manga.

I’m quite sure I’ve read mangas with premises that gave a setup to look forward to, but in the end, the story goes on as if nothing was left unresolved in the first place.

People calling MC childish and stubborn are crazy. True he is being stubborn but he has all the reason to be.

He gets banished from his party with the sole reason of being weak.

Then, his childhood friend gives him a questing recommendation, which gives him a tiny bit of hope that maybe she still cares about him.

MC actually almost gets obliterated by a SSS RANK DRAGON. In that moment he felt he got sent to his death. Everyone talking about "well why didn't he try to find out why?". HE ALMOST DIED. Any reasoning MC ever had is out the window. He experiences a traumatic situation and people are expecting him be level headed is insane.

To make things worse, after he recovers, no one reaches out to him. This only reaffirms his belief that they don’t care about him.

Yes MC is stubborn but his experiences make that reaction understandable. His childhood friend took 2 years to apologize which feels like a huge betrayal to him. As readers, we can see both sides and think it’s all just a misunderstanding, but from the MC’s perspective, it feels like he’s been abandoned and hurt by those who were supposed to be there for him.

There isn't much to unwrap here the manga is badly written and surface level

because the story is really built on the premise, so if you resolve the problem the story has nothing else to hook up the readers

That is my point.
By that, I meant that some titles goes on as if the setup had nothing to do with the current story. Like those where you think it’s interesting at first, but after the initial setup, it becomes another generic title. Basically, forgetting about the premise that it needed to resolve by the time it ends.
