So, I did some Copilot translating and checking, apparently the "足" in "４足分ということは" can mean two things depending on whether used for counting shoes or animal legs (probably more for other things, for all I know).
In this case, a more accurate translation might have been "4 legs worth of shoes." not "4 pairs of shoes."
In the case of shoes, 4 pairs of shoes would be - just like in English - 8 shoes, but that's not valid use of the "足" here.

I’m still tripped out that this guy had such a badass form that he could train in and be super powerful, and then he started spamming taking in dragon materials and all of a sudden he could only use it for a few seconds. I know he’s much more powerful now but only being able to use that form for 8 seconds is nuts.
