In terms of real life biology, anything creatures do have its cost. Regeneration might sounds great until you realise it uses a lot of energy to do so. Most animals only sacrifice part of their bodies to survive.

Even if you can regenerate as it has been pointed out, it is very costly, especially when you do it in rapid manner.

The convenient excuse of feeding on mana to power its regeneration will only go so far.
