I thought that was weird too, that the story seems to be empathising with her.

With the power dynamics already of teacher & student and not to mention the age gap with the student being a minor. Such a relationship should not even be considered as anything more than what it is. A pedo preying on a minor. Of course, this would be plain obvious how problematic it is had the genders been swapped around.
