@Beregorn I avoided wearing mine daily until I started driving, at which point I did so for safety reasons (for everyone else on the road especially...). Anyway, what I mean to say is that I empathize with finding glasses to be somewhat annoying. And indeed, it's just a little bit like people using mobility scooters out of laziness, though I don't think manual wheelchairs are particularly labor-saving if no one is pushing you xD. I don't want to criticize people
too much though, since I can see how they would be considered a fashion accessory even by those who don't need to use them. I think they may actually be seen primarily through that fashion accessory lens (wordplay!) in Japan, despite the
very high rate of myopia, with many people using contact lenses if they can (just to contextualize the chapter a bit). I can't handle contact lenses very well myself.
