Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! If you like the characters the more clichés are piled up in the story the more you'll end up hating them.
So typical of writers like this one to carry on about misconceived ideas about quality and realism one minute, then praising cliché and tropes - essentially coming out as a lazy, unimaginative waste of ink or pixels - the other minute.

@Pachka84 Although I see what you're saying but as they mentioned Nisekoi and Ichigo are good examples... Although cliched they are good stories objectively speaking... They may be cliched at the beginning but what's important is how the middle and later parts are made. People who only watch the anime version usually complain about this since the anime only adapts the early parts which is usually full of cliches (The reason I ended up hating harem anime). Also there's a reason why cliches became cliches and kept getting used for so long... Although nowadays stories don't have that many of them, but any popular romance story still has these cliches if you look closely. In the end it all depends on how you look at it and I suggest to read any story with a fresh mind and not be turned off unless the story is completely riding on cliches.
(PS : Yes, I used the word cliche 7 times)
