Just noticed that completed tag and in only three more chapters at that. So I'm guessing this is either going to end in complete tragedy of a double-suicide or complete acceptance.

From the way that recording is going, it sounds like his sister is going to reassure or encourage her to stay quiet and that'll settle the guy's heart into taking her in fully and wanting to help her live. This'll likely end up with them returning to the shelter and some sort of happy ending.

Sumire finally fessed up, she was jealous of Shiika and bullied her, because she took her place.

Shiika was abused by her pedophile father, Yuri offered herself in her place, but due to twisted psychology watched her being raped because she didn't had a poper family... pedophile father really messed her up.

Note one thing, pedophiles make abuse as a form of affection, they claim such things as physical abuse and rape is "love" and it's "normal".
The victims believe such things are okay, because they're taught that way, 5 years old Shiika didn't understand it because nobody told it was wrong.

Dunno if them returning to Waku-san would be good idea, Shiika would be blamed for not helping Yuri being raped, although something she didn't fully understand back then so can't blame her.

Because he's the root of every crack and every broken life of the story.
He broke shiika, he broke Yuri. "Breaking" Yuri broke their mother and pushed Kazuma to destroy his own life, which broke his mom even more. His sin became something that even his wife and son, who didn't have any fault, had to bear....although, what actually broke them was society.
When you think about it, it's "incredible" how someone's actions can impact (so many) other people and their lives.

That would be the right thing to do, but at this point, we know that this manga doesn't like the "do the right thing" route....so I guess we can expect to see them running away for a long long time

Its not like yuri offered herself, yuri tried to save shiika but since she got involved he targeted her instead. Its the same as bullying, when u help someone who gets bullied u ll be the one to get bullied instead. And as a little kid its not logical to think she can go outside and call for help, she isnt in the right mind in that moment.

Something similar happened in my country and it was just a little different with mother saying "that btch seduced her father" tried to justify herself like that but later it found out she is lying out of jelaousy and the father even R-word'ed donkeys nearby too. Honestly i cant even understand how can u be this thirsty for something even though u have a wife. Im sure even cave men didnt go for donkeys.
