What a beautiful conclusion.

I also hope that we don't get DBZ power scaling. Personally, I think that future battles will be mostly with WIll himself.

Power corrupts people. That is why dragons in traditional mythology are morally reprehensible wealth hoarders. As extremely powerful beings, they're also incredibly rotten. Now that Will has, in some sense, absorbed the power of a dragon, he'll have to wrestle with that power. Stagnate said as much, but what she said is more or less justification for this whole metaphor.

People seek to control Power, but much more often than not, Power ends up controlling them. Like some sort of demon. The only way to stave off this corruption is a readiness to surrender that Power, and the careful exercise of virtue. Once Power becomes something you cannot relinquish, then it has you - and your virtue will rot rapidly as you do everything can to protect it and expand it.

I'm sure our boy will struggle, but I have faith that he's up to the task.

Ah the literal inclusion of godly love at this point haha. I agree with previous posters - It would be pretty funny to have romantic drama in this story, but that might take away from the epic. I'd still love to see it tho

This manga is beautiful and not just in art
it also makes you tear up a lot on occasion, like the first chapters of frieren, but more on this manga

Also: I love the moral ambiguities and shades that the gods posses, it's not "this is evil just because", Stagnate has been shown to be a god overwhelmed by sadness and loving people in her own way, but the result is ""evil"" mindless undead most of the time

The author has proven capable of writing up a proper dragon, and used all the Epic tropes in the right order and proportions to create something that impresses even hardened and jaded fantasy veterans.

And you think he'd ruin that with something silly and unneeded as that?
The first arc was Will's Warrior's Path, this dragon felt like the end to his Hero's Journey, this means next is probably the start of his journey as a Sovereign/Luminary and eventually we'll get his journey into Magehood afterwards. After that who knows how the author is going to use classical fantasy/ myth structure to elevate the narrative.

So far it's been pretty damn good

It feels a bit like we're reading an old fantasy like Lotr or Lodoss wars.:meguu:
Considering the young dwarf prince soon to be coronated looks like Thorin in the Hobbit movie the author is a lotr fan.
...the mood in the last few panels was perfect for the dragon to briefly revive and take down 1-2 people

I am so happy. This damn build up, the dragon boss really terrifying that makes you really feel the adventure will end, the gods with strong personalities that reminds you of myths from the Antiquity... And the rewards in the end that doesn't feel forced or "shonen". This is what I call Fantasy with a big F. All the characters are well rounded and written. It has been so long that a story has been so satisfying with the waves and waves of harem+fantasy (+isekai often) bullshits. I feel cleansed.

Nah man, this...this is too happy! There has gotta be some sorta plot twist or shit about to happen right?
There is a potential for inner struggle as it is revealed that the dragon gene also give him negative traits of dragons(prideful for example) . As time goes by , he could hear the voices and the urges to dominate. This is like Paarthurnax.

Good thing Will wasn't turned immortal or super long lived, just "stay young until death". Was fearing he accidentaly became a time abyss demigod due to killing the dragon.
Well, we were told he 'gained a few extra years' and that his life hadn't 'significantly expanded', the problem with that is those are words from a god - I think they have a very different perspective on what a 'few extra years' or a 'significant expansion' of one's life may be.
We may well see a thousand year old Will.

The story is almost over. after this all we'll get are short stories with epilogues for some characters
Isn't the LN ongoing?...

HIATUS!?... I swear these authors luck out with a successful series, and then immediately lose the will to keep writing. This is pretty much the case for every damn LN with a manga adaption.

Anyway, the end of the series would (or should) be Will with a group of warriors having defeated the creatures that Mary and Blood were defeated by, since their seal is breaking.

A sudden full chapter. Thank you very much.

Well then, a love triangle of a paladin and two goddesses of death. Now how will that play is an interesting question.
Good luck to any mortal maiden Will would ever take, for she has rough road ahead of her.

I mean, the whole point of the story is to live a life you can be proud of when it ends. Wyll becoming immortal would run contrary to that.

The LN author gone back to his hometown village and stopped writing for personal reason. Doesnt have anything to do with manga adaptation since he stopped before manga adaptation iirc (or at least the manga barely start, he didnt know it will be popular)

Who knows, family problem or maybe he must inherit the family farm or something. Only when anime adaptation start airing years later that theres news that he might come back to continue the story because many people ask... then radio silence again.
