It feels a bit like we're reading an old fantasy like Lotr or Lodoss wars.:meguu:
Considering the young dwarf prince soon to be coronated looks like Thorin in the Hobbit movie the author is a lotr fan.

Valcirca's name comes from the Silmarillion. The name means "Sickle of the Valar" and is a constellation above Middle Earth(Big Dipper, I think). So yeah, definitely a Tolkien fan.

why she would love him is beyond me, but i guess we'll find that out in the future. so far this has been an exciting read and i hope it'll continue that way

I mean, Stagnate is already stated, from the very start, to be appreciative and fond of heroes and brave warriors. The stronger, the more morally upright, the better.

Then, there's Will. He's by far the best hero she's seen in centuries, if not millenia. He's strong, smart, shows that he's able to make wise decisions, but also to fight while knowing this is most likely going to end up in his death, because it's the right thing to do.

And while being respectful to her and her ideals, understanding them to a point even, he's openly opposing her. Without fear nor animosity, he's declared her his ennemy, and actually has the strength and feats to back his statements up (I mean, he killed a dragon that the GODS themselves would rather have on their side than not in literal wars, the closest thing we've seen so far to a primordial being)... so yeah, that makes sense.

She's more in love with what Will represents and the ideal of a hero that he embodies, than she is with Will himself.

Hm, so this is effectively the ending of this story?

I feel like it could have kept going without giving wil the power up, and doesn't the demon king need to be dealt with? That would be the true test of surpassing his mentors.

Isn't the LN ongoing?...
Checks LN status
HIATUS!?... I swear these authors luck out with a successful series, and then immediately lose the will to keep writing. This is pretty much the case for every damn LN with a manga adaption.
IIRC the details, The author was working on the next arc when their mother passed away. They had to move back to their hometown and stopped writing entirely for a few years.

Earlier this year they said they started working on the next volume again but didn't have a timeline for when they might actually have something - totally possible they just never figure it out.

That really does sound like good old George "I'am writing, almost finished, any decade now" Martin.:ROFLMAO:

Really appreciate that they're still all bloodied up from the massive wounds they all received, adds some often missed realism in the usual manga reading experience.

wills confession to gracefeel like the anime did?
if so that's fucking bullshit.
You might be misremembering, that's still a ways of
it's near the end of Volume 4 (LN)

Going by his tweets he's been struggling with crippling anxiety to the point of causing nausea and headaches in addition to maybe some suicidal tendencies, he seems to be taking meds for them but still struggles to write consistently

Anyway, since the dwarves got their kingdom back that could mean a lot of dwarves would return making some sort of brain drain in other polities. At very least they regularly goes on a pilgrimage

I am guessing they will make a golden statue of Will and he would be embarrassed.

I am interested what the other polities reaction would be to the reclaimed dwarven kingdom.

I guess Will have go to the king to pay tribute since just by defeating the evil dragon it would have stirred the political balance. Some noble would renew their whispers of conspiracy that the king's brother is trying to usurp him.

Everyone wished for the purification of the land, and given the dying and absolutely ruined state of it, I agree with them. That was certainly the biggest problem around that needed divine intervention to fix before it claimed even more lives. Due to the scale of devastation, it's hard to imagine mortals succeeding soon at trying to purify that absolutely cursed land (and water) by themselves.

I hope they don't forget about Valacirca's corpse, that's sure to bring in extremely valuable materials. Not to mention his treasure hoard too. That can fund the faster development of Torch Port and maybe even the settled parts of Southmark if they wanted to.

The dwarves finally have their home back, I'm sure resettlement of the old Iron Country will happen sometime soon with Al as their king. To be clear, there are still plenty of demons around the continent, since they only asked for purification of the mountains and nearby areas like the neighboring elven country.

Regarding future conflicts, we know there's still the looming threat of the (sealed) High King to worry about. That guy's crazy strong enough that even Blood, Mary and Gus at their peak as heroes could only seal him away, and even then only managed to do so by giving Stagnate their lives as payment. By their legends, the High King sounds like final boss material who'd be more than a match for Will's new power.

Plot twist : His soul is once of a god that got tired and reincarnated as human.
Well, we were told he 'gained a few extra years' and that his life hadn't 'significantly expanded', the problem with that is those are words from a god - I think they have a very different perspective on what a 'few extra years' or a 'significant expansion' of one's life may be.
We may well see a thousand year old Will.

Anyway, the end of the series would (or should) be Will with a group of warriors having defeated the creatures that Mary and Blood were defeated by, since their seal is breaking.

Similar to the elves sense of time but to a higher degree .

They should keep it a secret for a while since there are bad elements that would take advantage.
