A different way to interpret the whole conversation has been the dragon asking 'can you entertain me (are you heroes)? or do I have to use you to make my own entertainment (start wars, cause catastrophes)'

I understand what the dragon wants, but that's not the point I was trying to talk about. I was pointing out that every choice Will make will still ultimately leads to bad-end, this one just makes the dragon acknowledge them as heroes while they fight.

An otaku pandering, stock-standard trash isekai would've had Valacirca accept Will's counter offer and then conveniently turn the dragon into some big-breasted woman (if not a loli) who then joins a harem of other tropey, generic women lusting after him. I am super glad this is not one of those, and by this fact alone makes this story very memorable in the sea of isekai out there.

This is one of the few manga where a dragon is depicted as an absolute being, a creature comparable to Gods.
Their voices, their appearance, and just being in their presence exude Fear. They have pride, strength, and arrogance to look down on any other creatures.

It feels so different than those mass-produced manga where one can find a dragon like it's a common monster.
