THE WINDS IS PUSHING ME
Probably consciously so that he could have a better fightAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Magnificent! just pure bliss, they way Will understood what the Dragon was trying to do and the way everything build up to a "You're worthy of being their succesor"
If dragon words are linked to the "power of words" then the moment Valacirca told Will he was a True Hero he gave a power boost to Will unconsciously
I think it was a mistake to consider this story "isekai" in the first place. An otaku pandering, stock-standard trash isekai would've had Valacirca accept Will's counter offer and then conveniently turn the dragon into some big-breasted woman (if not a loli) who then joins a harem of other tropey, generic women lusting after him. I am super glad this is not one of those, and by this fact alone makes this story very memorable in the sea of isekai out there.
I feel like you mean: "this feels like a top-tier fantasy" (it is, and because isekai is just a subgenre of fantasy but not the other way around: something can be both isekai and fantasy, but not all fantasies are isekai), Due to the fact that Will had a past life in the modern world and has memories of that past life, this is still technically an isekai, no matter how we slice it, even if we don't like it.IDK how to put this into word. But I hope ya get what I mean
yeah fair.I feel like you mean: "this feels like a top-tier fantasy" (it is, and because isekai is just a subgenre of fantasy but not the other way around: something can be both isekai and fantasy, but not all fantasies are isekai), Due to the fact that Will had a past life in the modern world and has memories of that past life, this is still technically an isekai, no matter how we slice it, even if we don't like it.
By definition, isekai just refers to stories about people that have been transported/reincarnated to another world. Plain and simple. It's just not the tropey, mass-produced OP harem garbage isekai that most people know, but I have no problems considering this an isekai, and to me this is both a top-tier fantasy and a top-tier isekai.
It's only too likely that he opted to make it an isekai to attract a bigger fanbase, but time and again it's been used to further develop William as he remembers what he once was. That's the only thing I disagree with; which goes to show the writer's prowess in not losing a firm hold of the core of the story, despite making a market decision, and this should not be overlooked either.I guarantee the author said "Hey I got this awesome fantasy series" the publisher went "okay but make it an isekai so it'll sell because that's what's hot right now and it's always cool to do the same thing as five thousand other titles" and the author went "fine here's three panels saying he came from our world, boom, it's an isekai". It's only an isekai in the most pendantic and trivial sense, otherwise it could have easily not have been and lost absolutely nothing.
There is no peaceful resolution for this dragon. Valacirca is a self-centered, egotistical dragon who knows what he wants the most. And he wants war, strive, catastrophe, treasures, and heroes. He lives by those ideal.ngl, while I'd like to see how a peaceful resolution would look like, I'm glad we got to see them at least fight Valacirca.
Thanks for the translation!
