I’ve read all five existing volumes of the light novel and there is no yaoi. Sorry. Menel and Will will find girls they like as their story progresses. They do blush at each other as tsundere/deredere friends.

The only thing that happens is that bards spread rumors Menel is secretly a woman, which he frecking hates, as he’s a bit of a womanizer himself.

Wah! It’s so nice to see so many conventions being bucked, clearly mostly drawing from less pop-isekai influences (Tolkien being the obvious one). We get backgrounds! And the first person he meets isn’t some girl who falls for him, in fact he doesn’t really get along with the main character. The hunting/butchering is semi-realistic rather than just being “did you know you should drain the blood? Wow” (although the anatomy of that pork should looks off, but i’ll excuse it). The main character is sincerely religious, kind of like a, well, paladin. The half elf is a bit coarse without being ridiculous, the realistic sort of cold shoulder. And finally there’s the plot twist at the end, which was actually unexpected.

He's only lived with 3 people his whole life, one of which was a extremely religious. And mind you, they have been around for quite some time.

About 5 or 6 more chapters will reveal that all the things Mary's taught him about prayer is outdated. Instead of praying at different times throughout the day and in various different methods, you now only pray around the evening or at mass and such. Additionally, his way of speaking is perceived as archaic; Menel should be the one to tell him he's got the dialect of an old man, and that's coming from a half elf.

Will is extremely bizarre to all that meet him. In a world where choosing a god gives you special powers in the form of benedictions, you could detect lies, shoot electricity, create bread, and Will chose the goddess that grants "Turn Undead", an extremely useless skill for every day life.

The biggest plot twist of this chapter was that the first encounter of MC was not some damsel in disaster who he will heroically save in the last second, but a goddamn man. Kudos to author, story is super interesting so far!
