People still need trainining. And 1) the sword saint only trained his one apprentice; 2) now he's dead; 3) new sword saint is probably not training much or maybe not training anyone at all.

Having to sell a villa does seem pretty extreme though. And wouldn't sending the maid along double the already extreme cost?

It's pretty rare to get a setup like this and have the GS MC simply say "I'm happy with this new life." (Of course, the plot won't let that happen so easily.)

probably wonky worldbuilding or they just dont have any other assets to liquidate

A villa doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. Could be in a poor location, is small, etc.

Since this is same world reincarnation, no weird, I bring random things like mayo or soy sauce chapter to save them financially. Which if you know culinary history is always funny as hell and worrying for whatever world is there.
