from what i have understood :
she is fragment of Anastasia's soul.
She was one of the former comrade of Claude (the werewolf) when he still was the hero of the earth spirit empress ( cf chapter 15 page 18 )and a childhood friend who was like a big sister for him (cf chapter 9 pages 3 and 4).
But one year before the start of the story ( cf chapter 15 page 18 ) probably after the party killed one of the 8 demon lord of this world (cf chapter 16 page 8), she seemed to had become mad, killed some people (i don't know if they were the other party members or not) and torn off Claude limbs (cf chapter 9 page 4 to 7) and with other party member(s) cursed him ( cf chapter 15 page 18 ).
Claude believed to have killed her already (cf chapter 15 page 19) (he was already missing one leg and one arm at that time and still managed to do it...).
But since her power was to put fragment of her soul into living beings (generally monster) to control them ( cf chapter 15 page 18 ), even though Claude killed the main body, she is still around, and still want to kill him.

I have to disagree. Fragment was in that wolf, and seemed like it had been released from someone else's control or something when they killed the wolf. Meanwhile, this chick's face seemed familiar to the cat. Which is a servant of the gods. I'm fairly sure this is a bit bigger than a grudge between former comrades. Probably has something to do with the balance of the world given that the target of all this is one of the heroes who is part of a whole system by the sound of things. What was it, four heroes, seven sages, and 8 demon lords?

One of the demon lords is dead because of Claude and his former comrades, who then turned on him for some reason. Anastasia's soul fragment sounded relieved to be prevented from adding any more to its sins when they killed the wolf it was in, hence my figuring she was under someone else's control herself. This is perhaps about revenge for the fallen demon lord or throwing a kink in the works on this universe that seems to rely a bit on having those specific numbers of those specific roles. Like, with the demon lords down one, they're trying to get rid of a hero now and so on before the gods have a chance to pick adequate people for those roles again.

Okay I can't hold it in anymore. Hibiki, just marry Claude already. He's acting too attached to just be a Hero under your care (that new staff/lance even has a ring on it so Hibiki better put that on Claude's finger). Or, if people do fan Yaoi doujin for it just upload those on MyReadingManga lolol.
