I am so confused. So he reset himself so she can be the hero and he cannot accept her love basically because then she won't be the hero to for everyone just himself. I am so confused. I think they can just get together and get over it. also we are 3 chapter behind it seems

The flow of this is horrible. Short chapters, inconsistent conversations randomly happening. I was alright with the change from the oneshot until they met the demon king, then it really just lost continuity slowly in terms of understanding what's going on.

I think time manipulation was an intentional part of this for a number of chapters. That's why chapters start with no bearing to the previous chapter's end and you're left wondering "the fuck?" - mangaka is trying to give us the sensation of manipulated time. They are not doing a good job of it and Its really, really making this a less than good read though.

23 ended with him freezing fly man's hand, and 24 started on that moment too?

I don't think they were speaking of the mage controlling time himself, but the party namely the mage asking flyman if he would reverse the hero's time. Dunno if they're going to reveal why he's seemingly weirdly obsessed with being expelled cause it seems to have changed from wanting to find women at least at this specific point. There also haven't been hints as to what he did with that spell he had at hand readied for the hero that he either stopped casting or self inflicted. But from that last conversation they had, she's still devoted to him that she would defer to his judgement of reverting to something else and it placate him enough to back off for now.

Altho I do agree, this is a weird place to start setting up a mystery about memory and time reversal, since all the previous arcs have just been fetish degeneracy, with no hints whatsoever to this weirdly edgy version of the mage

He's been resetting himself every time they had some kind of progression, or he felt he might be falling for her. This isn't new.
