@topa We don't know anything about this world's humans yet anyway. Maybe we're the baddies and the demons/demihumans all just want to live their lives without being persecuted as "monsters." That's such a common version of events for manga nowadays that I'd honestly prefer the demon king to be the "bad guy," but end up winning in the end anyway because of how things are being handled on this side.

@topa I see your point, and what I'm about to say doesn't necessarily apply since this is a comedy, but I'll go ahead anyway. It's not that bad, imo.
If you think about it, in a war there are 3 general possibilities: both are right, both are wrong, one is right and one is wrong.
In this particular case you have a person that, despite waging war, cares about you, cares about his subordinates, cares about those who aren't his subordinates yet. You remember that Harry Potter thing? "To measure the mettle of someone see how he treats not his equals, but his inferiors". The Demon King is all around a good person.
"Oh yeah? Well, Hitler loved dogs". Right. Demons vs humans, probably. Ulmander hates humans, and is prolly a bit racist too ("I'll never accept this lowly human!"). And yet, the Demon King summoned a human, and is valuing him as an individual, beyond any other judgement. That's more than you can say for MANY humans.
If you ask me, whatever war he's waging, he probably has a good reason.
